How To Use Your Joy Journal

Your Joy Journal is an integral piece of the process of building joy in your life. As a monthly journal, you have the opportunity to view your priorities and goals from a month long perspective allowing you to utilize your Personal Vision Tracker (PVT) as your guide.

Our Joy Journals are broken down into three integral pieces: the Monthly Joy Builder, Weekly Joy Builder, and the daily journal.

The Monthly Joy Builder provides the framework for your entire month. It is the reference point for your weekly joy builder and helps guide you and keep you focused on the steps needed to progress you through to reach the goals you laid out in your PVT. In your monthly joy builder you will focus on three key elements of your personal joy – success, wellbeing, and purpose. Using these three elements of joy you will identify what each one will look like for you at the end of the month and key habits that you need to work on to get there. This section also provides you with an opportunity to take a deeper look at several other areas of your life allowing you to observe and reflect on where key changes could be made.

The Weekly Joy Builder lays the foundation for your week ahead. Referencing the monthly joy builder, your weekly joy builder allows you to approach your week from a place of mental and emotional preparedness. You will be prompted to reflect on your PVT including your 7 F goals and your 1-year plan, as well as your weekly habit tracker from the previous week. Using these and your monthly joy builder as your guide you will then go through the exercise of setting your headspace, creating new weekly habit goals, and reflecting on your previous week.

We then get into the daily joy journal that brings everything to the forefront of each day. Completing your daily journal each morning sets the tone for your day. You will find space to set your morning headspace which includes a daily gratitude practice and a chance to put actions in place throughout the day that will help you move your 7 F goals forward. Then you will have an opportunity to reflect on your previous day. Take some time here to provide yourself with valuable feedback – both good and bad – but also give yourself grace. Your daily joy journal is completed with a high level time block section, a daily priorities section, and a space for notes. The intention for high-level time blocks is not to plan out your entire day down to the hour, but rather, it allows you to insert your main priorities and when you intend to complete them. Try not to overwhelm this section.

Overall, the intention of your joy journal is to allow you to keep coming back to a mental space where you are focused on long and short term goals and actively doing things to move them foward.

How To Use Your Personal Vision Tracker

Your Personal Vision Tracker, or PVT, is an invaluable asset to your joy journal and moving your life and joy forward.  Within your PVT you have the context to plan out your next 10-years. This plan is broken down into a series of sections each prompting you to shift focus towards an integral aspect of your success, wellbeing, purpose, and overall – joy.

After working through each section and gaining insight into your current and future self and goals you will then utilize your PVT as you work through your joy journal each day. Keep it close! It is created to be a bookmark for your life journey and a literal bookmark for your joy journal as well.

Customer Reviews

FBC Remodel is proud to Build Joy® for homeowners. See what our customers have to say about working with us.

“We can't say enough about the design team at FBC. We had multiple companies bid on our project and everyone else came back with the same basic design (a good but not spectacular layout). But FBC looked at the space from a completely different angle and in the process was able to create everything on our wishlist including an extra room. The design was elegant and functional and our family now benefits from it every day.”

Michael S.

“FBC did an amazing job with our 1600 sq ft basement. The sales team listened to our vision, offered several options and helped us stay within budget. Our PM was fantastic! We received daily communication with minimal life interruption, realistic expectations and partnered with us to ensure every aspect was covered. They even finished early!!! We had met with 2 other contractors and are so happy about our choice! They accommodated our quirky requests for a brewery room, rerouting our laundry dryer vent, closeting our water piping for access and exterior window well changes. Best choice ever!!!”

Heather R.

“The design/construction approach by FBC produced an excellent finished product for us. We added a large recreation room for pool, TV and games along with a bedroom and bathroom. Ceiling soffits, arched entries and angled walls created a unique and inviting space. The project team and trade partners did fine work and we are very happy with our new basement. All work was completed on schedule and within budget. The best part was having all construction access through the basement window. Our only advice is to carefully review all design details to assure that everything you want is clearly specified in the drawings. Then be part of the team by doing quality control as the project moves along.”
